The final scene in Episode VII was shot on an island off the west coast of Ireland. It's an amazing place, a transfiguring place - and it's a place I've actually been. The stone structures on the precipitous peak of Skellig Michael were built by monks in the 6th Century without mortar of any kind, and they remain perfectly intact more than 1400 years later.
