Skeletons in a Cave Retirement card

Here we have a humourous off the wall retirement card for that special someone for whom a regular off the rack card just isn't going to do. they may be a geologist or weekend spelunker or nature lover or even just a hermit by nature looking forward to getting away from it all or even just have a dark sense of humour either way this is the card for them. This vintage artwork is called Two Skeletons in a Cave by Caspar David Friedrich circa 1826. It is one of my favourite vintage skeleton art because it looks so deceptively modern. It has a great warm rocky look to all the rock formations and the lighting in the cave and positions of the skeletons almost looks more like they are laying out relaxing on the beach catching some rays than mouldering away in a cave to me. Caspar generally is considered the most important artist of his time/ generation. He was known for his landscapes and for diminishing the presence /impact of man in preference to nature.
