Sitting Three Cat, Julie de Graag Poster

Sitting Three Cat, Julie de Graag Poster

Julie de Graag (18 July 1877 - 2 February 1924) was a Dutch graphic artist, draftsman and painter. Julie de Graague was born in Gorinchem but went to the Hague after her parents. She studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1890, and J.J. Bremmer, art critic H.P.'s disciple of Arts and The Hague. In addition, she got an MO certificate. In 1904 she moved to Laren, North Holland, where she began to adopt a more stylized style under the influence of the sculptor Joseph Mendes Da Costa and the painter Bad van der Lek. Her home was completely destroyed on New Year's Eve 1908, and much of her work was lost. In addition to her job as an artist, she had several hours a week at a girls' school in Utrecht where she taught painting. Her health was always fragile, so she was often with The Hague's parents. In the early 1920s, she was physically and mentally deteriorating and had to give up teaching. This was reflected in the theme of her work, which became increasingly morbid. Julie Grad committed suicide at the age of 46. Quote:Wikipedia

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
