The full title of the painting is "I am Sir Launcelot du Lake, King Ban's son of Benwick, and Knight of the Round Table". It depicts a scene from Mediaeval England, showing two mediaeval knights dressed in full armour with metal swords, shields and helmets. They are facing each other aggressively, getting ready to fight. There is a lady riding on a white horse in the background. On a high hill can be seen a towering castle with stone ramparts.
