Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat (1887) by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh often used himself as a model for practicing figure painting. It is clear that he had studied the technique of pointillism, but his brushstrokes are not systematic and he has applied the marks in his own unique way. This painting is also one of Van Gogh’s boldest colour experiments during his time in Paris.
