Schuylkill Canal Lock 57 Parker Ford PA Poster

Lock 57, the end of the Girard Canal section of the Schuylkill Navigation (aka Schuylkill Canal). The Girard Canal was the longest section of the Schuylkill Navigation. Starting at the Big Reading Dam in Reading (Lock 50), near the base of Neversink Mountain. The Girard Canal cut a channel 22 miles long through Berks & Chester County ending in Parker Ford at the slack water pool created by Vincent's Dam. The image is from approx. 1910.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
