"Schaghticoke" Playing Cards

This unique curlicue or roll, in 18th century Schaghticoke baskets, make it a historical, as well as a very creative design to have. Interestingly, in the 18th century, tribal leadership actively sought out Christian ministers. The reason had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with community survival. English ministers were white authority figures. Their presence in an indigenous village could prevent their white neighbours from stealing tribal lands and natural resources. Smart People those Schaghticoke!
