SAVE OUR SEAS Keychain
“SAVE OUR SEAS” (SOS). SOS is a Morse code distress signal, used internationally, that was originally established for maritime use. “SAVE OUR SEAS” applies to ALL present and future generations in relation to the need to preserve Earth’s seas from ALL forms of pollution and distress. The lifebuoy is symbolic of saving, of preserving. Helen Caldicott quoted (with designer’s additions): “The future of our children is a trust we have been given. To conserve and grow, not to squander wastefully on needless excesses. The earth (and sea) is a trust, to protect and to honour. Our home, our livelihood, our future rests in the quality of our stewardship of our seas. Let us become better stewards.” There are also the associated climate challenges. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned that further delays in global action on climate change adaptation and mitigation will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all.
