Sanada's Six Coins Coffee Mug

The Sanada Roku Mon Sen or Zenimon is referred to by various names. Some sources, such as "Heian Monkan," "Mon Den," and "Kamon Dai Zukan," call it "Sanada Zen," while others, including "Mon no Kokoro," "Mon no Izumi," and "Nihon no Monsho," refer to it as "Sanada Roku Mon Sen." "Jomon no Kenkyu" calls it "Shinano Sanada Roku Mon Ren Sen," and "Kamon no Jiten" simply "Roku Ren Sen." Munen Sen refers to coins with only a square hole, like this design, without any text. The Sanada clan, particularly those from the Matsushiro Domain in Shinano Province, are famous for using the Munen Sen. The quality of these larger mugs is very good. I have been putting mine through the dishwasher all the time and it shows no signs of fading or dulling. Ergonomically these are lovely to hold and have fast become my favourite mug for a big cup of tea or coffee. Totally recommend getting the tea infuser with the mug especially if you like using loose leaf tea, which always tastes better from my experience and is better for the environment. Printing was good, bright and most importantly accurately matches the colouring shown on the website.
