Tapuio is a real area, but it is also representative of every small rural area ignored by biologists, ravaged by hunters and farmers, destroyed with little compensation. I am trying to raise awareness about this area, and by doing so, raise awareness about every small spot of forest often ignored by those who work to save forests and wildlife, ignored because it is not seen as pristine enough, not comfortable enough, not remote enough. Tapuio represents the overwhelming majority of devastated spaces, devastated wildlife areas, around the world. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
