Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, born in 1207, was a princess known for her compassion and charity. Married to Louis IV of Thuringia, she used her position to aid the poor and sick, even distributing food and clothing herself. After her husband's death, she embraced a life of poverty, joining the Third Order of Saint Francis. Elizabeth's devotion to the marginalised and her ascetic lifestyle earned her widespread admiration. Canonised in 1235, she remains a revered figure in Catholicism, symbolising selflessness and generosity.
