Saint Augustine and Saint Monica (17th Century) by Gioacchino Assereto Saint Augustine, Augustine of Hippo, original Latin name Aurelius Augustinus, was a theologian and philosopher of Berber origin and the bishop of Hippo Regius in Numidia, Roman North Africa. Born: November 13, 354 AD, Thagaste Died: August 28, 430 AD. Augustine of Hippo was canonised in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII. Saint Monica was an early North African Christian saint and the mother of Augustine of Hippo. She is remembered and honoured in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
