Sacred Voice Bald Eagle & Totem Pole Mouse Pad

A powerful design for a mouse pad. "Sacred Voice" is a very special piece for me because it features an elder Bald Eagle that we helped to rescue very recently. I took several photos of him and this artwork was the result. I have included the mountains of the great Nimpkish Valley and a Totem Pole design based upon those of the northern area of Vancouver Island, where this handsome Eagle was rescued. He was found starving and weak so was brought into care at the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Centre where we volunteer. The title "SACRED VOICE" refers to the sacred place Bald Eagles have in First Nations culture as well as the voice they speak with when we choose to listen. They are telling us that we all need to learn to respect each other and that all animals are precious. The environment is also a cherished resource that must be protected if any of us are to survive. The actual cry of the Bald Eagle is one of the most haunting sounds I have ever heard. It is soulful and touches me in a way I can only describe through my art. The Bald Eagle is my animal totem and I revere this majestic creature. This artwork is a tribute to my new friend "Echo", (seen here). 75% of all proceeds from sales of this design go directly to the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Centre here on Vancouver Island, where this noble bird is now receiving care.
