Green Corn Dance Minatarrees 1861 George Catlin
In the Green Corn Dance Minatarrees, the first gathered maize is offered to the Great Spirit. The ceremony was intended to rekindle a sense of the sacredness of life. It was considered a crime against the gods to eat or even touch the newly ripened corn until the Green Corn Dance took place.
George Catlin was an American adventurer, lawyer, painter, author, and traveller, who specialised in portraits of Native Americans in the American Frontier. Travelling to the American West five times during the 1830s, Catlin wrote about and painted portraits that depicted the life of the Plains Indians. Born: July 26, 1796, Wilkes-Barre, PA Died: December 23, 1872, Jersey City, NJ.

This arrived So Much faster than I was expecting. I left plenty of time for international shipping and then didn't need it. I wasn't sure how the image would turn out (have never bought a notebook from Zazzle before). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image.
