St. Basil's Cathedral, located at the southern end of Red Square in Moscow, is one of Russia’s most iconic landmarks and a masterpiece of Russian architecture. Legend has it that Ivan blinded the architect to prevent him from ever creating anything as beautiful again—though historians believe this tale is likely myth. Today, St. Basil’s functions as a museum and a powerful symbol of Russian identity.
