this vintage art is by Edmund J Sullivan from his Illustrations of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam this is the first Version Quatrain. Here in this art we have all sorts of strangeness. It looks like a blast has thrown all sorts of wild animals and bizarre people around with an upside down alligator being constricted by a serpent and a squid while a baboon rides on the back of a woman with her hands thrown up in the air, a smaller squid appears to be flying towards the woman's midsection. Next to her an old woman appears to be on fire while a bloated blob of a man can be seen in the bottom of the scene with his head thrown back looking up at all the carnage. an all seeing eye hovers in the centre of the art.
