The 17th century organ in Rodez Cathedral has one of the most stunning carved cases for an organ in the world. Gloriously complex and yet attractive, the carvings in the walnut case specialise in faces! Human and animal and fantasy faces, mingled in with the metal pipes. The organ has undergone many transformations over the centuries and was last restored in 1986. This shows a close-up of the carved faces.
