Text of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution, instituted Prohibition and made the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol illegal. It was overturned 14 years later with passage of the 21st Amendment. During Prohibition, all through the Roaring '20s, people had to sneak around to get alcohol and went to a speakeasy for booze and entertainment.
