Revolutionary War 1st New York Regiment T-shirt

Revolutionary War 1st New York Regiment T-shirt

The 1st New York Regiment was initially authorised on May 25, 1775, organised at New York City for service with the Continental Army under the command of Colonel Alexander McDougall. Enlistment expirations led to numerous re-establishments of the Regiment over the years. The Regiment first saw action in the invasion of Canada that fall and winter. In the spring of 1776 it garrisoned fortifications in New York City. That September, it moved to reserve on the Harlem Heights. In October, the Regiment defended Chatterton's Hill during the Battle of White Plains. In December, it joined General George Washington in New Jersey, fighting in the Battle of Trenton. In August, 1777, the Regiment joined General Benedict Arnold in relieving Fort Schuyler. Afterwards, twenty-four men of the Regiment made up Brigadier General Philip Schuyler's permanent guard. In May, 1778, the Regiment re-joined Gen. Washington at Valley Forge, and fought at the Battle of Monmouth that June. In the spring of 1779, the Regiment returned to Fort Schuyler, fought at Oswegatchee, and in the Van Schaick Expedition against Onondaga settlements. Over the fall and winter of 1779-80, the Regiment's morale plummeted as supply problems, family separation, continual Indian harassment, and pay disputes led to numerous desertions, and even some attempts at mutiny and sabotage. These problems plagued the Regiment for the remainder of its existence. In January, 1781, the Continental Army was reorganised, and parts of the Regiment would be stationed at Albany, West Point, and Fort Clinton. The Regiment was discharged on June 8, 1783.

The Shirt itself is a really nice, high quality material. Its quite thick and the colour is spot on whats in the pictures. The print is 100% what I wanted and the overall product is amazing. I ordered a 2XL which is already pretty big, it came a lot larger than I expected so next time i would order a smaller size, but thats down to me. It came just in time and the staff were super helpful in speeding up the shipping process for me so it would arrive on time. The printing turned out better than i could've imagined. I was very skeptical at first and wasnt sure how it was going to look, but it honestly looks awesome. So happy with it :)
