Repro 1880s De Morgan Handpainted Green Snake Ceramic Tile
William De Morgan (1839-1917) was an important Arts & Crafts movement artist and was the head of tile production at William Morris's studio. Snakes were a popular theme in the Victorian era, and this is one of several snakes by De Morgan. (Check our other listings for more.) The original handpainted tile depicted here is from the 1880s. It works nicely in groups with our other green De Morgan tiles. You can see sample arrangements of some of those in our media section.
