Red John Maclean T-Shirt

A t-shirt for admirers of the great Scottish socialist revolutionary John Maclean (1879-1923). On the front is a red coloured portrait of Maclean bordered by a repeat pattern of the portrait on a black background. Note, the design also appears on the rear of the shirt. You can delete either, change the colour of the background square on the front, also add your own text or slogan, using the customise button. Born in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, the former schoolteacher fought for the rights of the common people, ending up in prison for his beliefs. He founded the Scottish Workers Republican Party and supported Scottish independence. His health was broken in prison and he died aged 44. Loved by the people, over 20,000 lined the streets at his funeral. Elected to the chair of the Third All-Russian Congress of Soviets in 1918 when he was made Bolshevik consul in Scotland, the design is based on an image from the Russian stamp struck in his honour.
