Red Happiest Christmas Quokka Beach Australia Ceramic Ornament

Red Happiest Christmas Quokka Beach Australia Ceramic Ornament

Christmas is celebrated on the beach in Australia as it is during summer. And your Christmas can't get any better, happier and cuter than with this quokka - the happiest animal in the world. Decorate and brighten up your tree with this unique ornament. It will definitely put a smile on everyone's face this festive season. You can personalize / customize this ornament by changing the text to your liking! Happy holidays from Rottnest Island near Perth in Western Australia, Down Under. If you’re ever lucky enough to meet a Quokka, the happiest animal in the world, chances are you’ll break out in a grin. This popular marsupial is synonymous with Perth’s favorite holiday spot, Rottnest Island – a short ferry ride from the Western Australian port of Fremantle. In fact, it’s how the island got its name – Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh named it ‘Rotte Nest’ (‘rats’ nest’) in 1696, mistaking the ubiquitous small macropods (the kangaroo and wallaby family) on the beautiful Mediterranean-like island as giant rats. Of course the traditional owners of Rottnest Island, the Whadjuk Noongar people, knew of the island long before any European connection. They call it Wadjemup, which means ‘place across the water where the spirits are’. Rottnest wasn't always an island. Noongar people used to walk there during the last ice age around 6,500 years ago when lower sea levels meant it was connected to the mainland. For them it was an important place to meet and conduct ceremonies. Around 10,000 Quokkas live on Rottnest Island today. Very small populations also survive in the mainland’s south-west forests such as those near Northcliffe. Overall the species is listed as vulnerable due to predation by feral animals (cats and foxes), altered fire patterns and habitat loss.

I was extremely happy to find a tree ornament for my Occupational Therapist daughter. (I bought one a few years ago for my Paramedic son) & prior to seeing this I was trying to work out how I could create something similar for her. Unfortunately my first order was deemed lost in the mail which meant it didn't arrive in time to give my daughter when she finished Uni. However the Zazzle Support team were fabulous & organised a replacement quite quickly. My daughter is very happy. Thank you. Nice ornament, love the colours

These Christmas ornaments turned out so beautifully, they were everything I wanted and more. The ceramic has a beautiful gloss coating and looks stunning on our Christmas tree. The printing captured my design perfectly!
