Red Deer II by Franz Marc Classic Painting Poster

Red Deer II by Franz Marc Classic Painting Poster

Franz Marc's Red Deer II (1912) is a striking example of his mature style, where the vibrant use of colour and abstraction conveys a sense of energy and movement. In this painting, Marc depicts a red deer surrounded by bold, vivid hues, notably red and orange, which represent both the physical power and the inner spirit of the animal. The form of the deer is simplified into geometric shapes, capturing the essence of the creature without focusing on detailed realism. The dynamic composition, with flowing lines and expressive colour contrasts, reflects Marc's interest in representing the emotional and spiritual connections between animals and nature. This work is an embodiment of Marc’s philosophy that animals possess a deep, primal energy that can be expressed through art, offering a profound reflection on the connection between life and the natural world.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
