This is a reproduction of “Red Canna”of 1924 by Georgia O’Keefe. This prolific American artist was thirty-six years old when she created this masterpiece which was a continuation of her efforts to create abstract patterns from the forms of nature. This “moher of American modernism” had been recognised for eight years at the time of this work and it was in this year that she married her companion, Alfred Stieglitz. This was only the beginning of her storied career in New York Hawaii and New Mexico. She survived her husband by forty years, dying in Santa Fe in 1986 at the age of ninety-eight years.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
