Red Admiral Butterfly Note Card

Red Admirals are a medium sized butterfly that can be seen through most of the year. The larva eat nettles and live and eat in a rolled leaf. The butterflies are migratory, and we've seen them flying as far as two miles off shore while we were fishing. The underside of the wings is patterned in muted browns and greys (another card) to camouflage them when they rest on tree trunks. The adults can hibernate during cold weather.
