Rainbow Obsidian Dragon by Portia St Luke Poster

2009. Mixed Media. Light reflects in iridescent patterns off of her scales, while she gently curls her tail beneath her head like so many cherished family pets. Yet there's still an unavoidable sadness in her eyes. I painted this while I was in a very dark place in my life. Strange how, despite the sweet, bright colours and gentle curves, that honesty still bleeds through.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
