Quebec/Nouvelle-France mediaeval french map Americ Poster
This is a map made by the french, showing all the territory north america they've explored. The map shows the french territory extending from New-France (now Quebec and part of Canada) to Louisiana (originally Louisiane) in the United States, to the west of Canada (Alberta, Manitoba).
It also partly shows the other empires that were also in america (central and north) at the time. The map dates from the 1600 and a lot of the names are the previous names of cities before the British Empire renamed them to english names. Prince Edward Island was named Ile de St-Jean, etc.
There's a LOT of very fun details on the map; for example, animals are drawn, huts, camps and small villages. All the names and territories of the First Nations (aboriginals/indigenous) are also indicated, and sometimes other details about them are written. Finally, there's also a lot of small notes the cartographers added in french on the map. As an example, it is mentioned the Panigoucha own 4 big villages and "that's where the beef/cow come from", and further south, the wild cows are mentioned.
The top of the map says:
"Map of New France, where can be seen the great rivers of St. Lawrence and the Mississipi, today St. Louis, around which can be found states, countries, nations and people of Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Marineland (? I suppose, french called it "Marie-Lande" which is phonetically similar), Pensilvania, the New Jersey ("New Jersay"), New York ("New Yorck"), New England, Acandia, Canada, the Inuits (Esquimaux, north), Huron, Iroquois, Illinois, and the big island of Newfoundland (Terre-Neuve). This map was made according to the most recent maps/archives gathered to establish the French Occidental Company."
The notes on the left mentions there's many rivers, the 2 main ones being Mississipi discovered by Joliette and the St.Lawrence by Jacques Cartier. Then it mentions the great lakes other other lakes sizes.
The graphic on the bottom right mentions Quebec city and has a legend to show the main buildings in the city.
NB: It's possible the store auto-translated some french words or names in this description and the automatic translation to french is not always the right one.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
