This is an adaptation of Henri Rousseau's 1909 painting "Mandrill in the Jungle." The original artwork is a small oil on canvas,19 x 24 cm (about 7.5"x9.5"), and it is in a private collection.
Henri Rousseau (1844-1910) was an important French Post-Impressionist painter in the Naive or Primitive manner. He was self-taught and often painted from his imagination. His paintings of exotic jungle scenes are some of his most famous paintings. Interestingly enough, he never left France. He said that all that he learned came from nature.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
