Princeton Congress - 1783 Metal Ornament

The Continental Congress meeting in Princeton was a consequential event during the American Revolutionary War. In the winter of 1783, as the war was winding down and the British were withdrawing from many American cities, the Continental Congress reconvened in Princeton, New Jersey. The decision to meet in Princeton was partly due to the proximity to the American and British armies. This gathering was significant as it allowed the Congress to address critical issues related to the end of the war, including demobilisation of the Continental Army, veterans' compensation, and negotiating the terms of the Treaty of Paris, which would officially end the conflict.
