Poster/Print: Master of the Hounds Poster

This magnificent vintage painting, entitled "Negro Master of the Hounds," was made by the French orientalist painter Jean-Leon Gerome (1824 - 1904). Throughout the 1850s, Gerome made several trips to the East. ~ His travels included Turkey, Egypt and other areas in Northern Africa. His love for this part of the world is apparent in his Orientalist paintings, including this masterpiece depicting a dog handler surrounded by his dogs in a North African landscape. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
