The Platonic solids are three-dimensional geometric figures, which their namesake Plato (428 - 348 BC) studied and described in detail. The surfaces of these exactly regular solids (polyhedra) each consist of identical polygons. A Platonic solid shows the greatest possible symmetry and has the following properties - all edges are of equal length, it has equal regular surfaces and the angles are equal at the vertices. Of these so-called polyhedra there are exactly five sacred geometric solids and to them Plato assigned the elements of his world view. Due to their regular geometry, Platonic solids have a great importance in mathematics and science. Likewise, the properties of the Platonic solids are applied in crystallography.

The quality of these larger mugs is very good. I have been putting mine through the dishwasher all the time and it shows no signs of fading or dulling. Ergonomically these are lovely to hold and have fast become my favourite mug for a big cup of tea or coffee. Totally recommend getting the tea infuser with the mug especially if you like using loose leaf tea, which always tastes better from my experience and is better for the environment. Printing was good, bright and most importantly accurately matches the colouring shown on the website.
