Pierre-Auguste Renoir - Bouquet Large Clock

Bouquet, around 1901 - Pierre-Auguste Renoir, oil on canvas. Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Limoges, 1841 - Cagnes-sur-Mer, 1919) was a French Impressionist painter. Flower painting was a private laboratory for Renoir. His wife Aline often arranged flowers for him. The dealer Ambroise Vollard recalled Renoir saying that once she had made the bouquet, all he had to do was paint it. This work includes one of the glazed green pots Aline liked to use. Renoir treated flowers less as botanical studies than as opportunities to experiment freely with color and touch.
