About This Design

Pi, The Irrational Mathematical Constant Funny Coffee Mug

Pi, The Irrational Mathematical Constant Funny Coffee Mug

This black and white art piece, designed digitally, is released in commemoration of Pi Day, which is observed each year on March 14. The date 3.14 corresponds to the rounded value of π (pi), a well-recognised mathematical constant. The design features the value of the Pi constant to the first 100 decimal places in a circle (composing a circle’s circumference), and the symbol and name of the constant across the circle (composing the diameter of the circle). As π is commonly defined as Circumference divided by the Diameter of a Circle. Interesting to note is that π (pi) is an irrational number, meaning that its decimal form neither ends nor becomes repetitive. It also the sixteenth letter of the Greek alphabet. March 14 is also celebrated as International Day of Mathematics, which was designated as such by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) at their 40th General Conference in November 2019, to emphasize the importance of the mathematical sciences. This is a perfect addition to your office or library or gift for that math teacher you adore! For special requests or questions, contact the artist at wafadahdalcreates@gmail.com. © Wafa Y. The quality of these larger mugs is very good. I have been putting mine through the dishwasher all the time and it shows no signs of fading or dulling. Ergonomically these are lovely to hold and have fast become my favourite mug for a big cup of tea or coffee. Totally recommend getting the tea infuser with the mug especially if you like using loose leaf tea, which always tastes better from my experience and is better for the environment. Printing was good, bright and most importantly accurately matches the colouring shown on the website.
