Phonics is all about SOUNDS. This design is a NEW WAY to teach phonics. We sing it to the tune of the old classic Alphabet Song BUT sing ONLY the SOUNDS. Designed by a USA teacher, with a background in Speech Language Pathology, and art. The design has the lowercase letter first, because we read mostly using the lowercase letters. Studies have shown that the brain learns new information faster when sung. The images are sort of subliminal, only giving a clue to the SOUND. They are set carefully behind each red letter on a black background (the POP-OUT factor) that is repeated 6 times to remind us to SING the SOUNDS. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Just when you think it is not working, DO NOT STOP! It will eventually happen. When the learner can recognise the letter and say it's SOUND, that is the beginning of reading. The letter names will be introduced later. Studies have shown that learning the SOUNDS FIRST is a faster and easier way to learn how to read English. We mostly read by the letter SOUNDS. The short vowels are somewhat difficult to learn. But this NEW WAY already has the short vowels in it! How convenient! Infants, toddlers, students struggling in reading or people learning English as a Second Language (ESL) can greatly benefit from this new approach verses the 3 step method used in many schools. There is not just one way to teach reading, but this one is simplified and very easy, with basically only one step. All 26 letters can be purchased on a poster, t-shirt, pillow and hundreds of items to help the teacher or learner to refer back to for learning.
