PHONICS POSTER

This is a teaching poster that anyone can use to teach infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten children, or people who needs a little help with learning the SOUNDS of the English alphabet. It is a start to reading. We read by SOUNDS. Singing help us learn concepts faster. The tune to this PHONICS SONG is the old ABC SONG, but use the sounds of the letters, not the letter's name. It was designed by a USA teacher and artist. The images are all original drawings or watercolors. The letter covers up the images intentionally, so the learner concentrates on the letter form. The lowercase letter is at the top, because that is what form most words consist of. It is better not to mention the image behind the letter. Let the image be subliminal, meaning that the student sees it subconsciously, but will focus on the letter's form and SOUND. Sing: "a a a A A A" , then ask the student to repeat after you. An interactive game with NO SCREEN TIME! Repeat the song for each letter SOUND. The GOAL is to have the student see the letter and only say its SOUND. That is the beginning of reading! PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Just when you think it is not working...DO NOT STOP! Eventually, you will be able to sing it without the images right in front of you. Please make it fun! The gift of learning how to begin to read. It is whimsical, very colourful, a work of art, a conversation piece, and can be placed anywhere to refer to at any time. Put one in each room that you think would help remind you to sing it, and the learner could refer to it often. Be a part of helping to end illiteracy. Can be posted in doctor's offices, libraries, coffee shops, day care environments, grandma's house, etc. Different countries too. You get the idea! It is learning how to read, all in a nut shell. READING IS ESSENTIAL, as the saying goes.
