Penguin and Egg - Interacting Galaxy Duo, Arp 142 Poster
Galaxies, Stars and Nebulae series What looks like a celestial penguin and egg is really the result of a collision between a spiral and an elliptical galaxy at a whopping 326 million light- years away. The flat disc of the spiral NGC 2936 is warped into the profile of a penguin by the gravitational tug of the companion NGC 2937. The object was first catalogued as a "peculiar galaxy" by Halton Arp in the 1960s. This interacting galaxy duo is collectively called Arp 142.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
