Surprisingly, the true origin and meaning behind the celebration of Christmas is not about the birth of a supernatural son—it is about the rebirth of the natural sun in the heavens. December 25 marks winter’s (astronomical) end, which brings the promise of light and replenishment to all. Every ancient civilisation celebrated this joyous "birth" of our sun (named "Sol" by the early Romans). Sadly, after thousands of years, the charming symbols and traditions of these winter solstice celebrations were “Christianised” and are largely forgotten. My grandson liked the card. Your cards are always great quality. I enjoyed being able to use a photo of him in the card, as these cards are keepsakes. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t get a gamer themed card. He is a very passionate gamer.
