The Orphic Egg is part of the Ancient Greek Orphic tradition. This shining Cosmic Egg was the source of the Universe from which the hermaphroditic winged primordial deity Phanes/Protogonos hatched, and in turn, created the other gods. Phanes means “Manifestor or “Revealer”, is related to the Greek words “Light” and “To Shine Forth”; and to the Latin word “Lucifer”. The earliest description of an egg shaped cosmos can be found in Sanskrit scriptures and the idea transcends many cultures, ideologies, dogmas, and theologies.
