Opabinia T-Shirt

Opabinia regalis was one of the stranger animals to appear during the “Cambrian Explosion,” a time around 500 million years ago when many new animals appear in the fossil record. Opabinia was a soft-bodied animal that had an outlandish appearance that gave it a classic science fiction monster look. It looked like a swimming worm with fins along its sides, five eyes and an "elephant trunk" up front that ended with what looks like a clam-shaped claw. The five eyes are particularly strange. No animals alive today have an odd number of eyes. Opabinia probably used its' trunk and claw to probe around the sea floor looking for soft food. Unfortunately, Opabinia left no modern-day descendants. But, it can be seen swimming in the murky darkness of any of the dark coloured shirts that Zazzle offers.
