It is one of over a dozen nature landscapes of olive trees that van Gogh painted while living in the south of France. About the artist: Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 -1890) was one of the most famous Post Impressionist painters of his era. His work was most noteable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colour.
