North Star Polo Club Denim Jacket

The logo of the mythical North Star Polo Club in Fairbanks, Alaska - features a polo player swinging his mallet while riding a moose. Text reading, "North Star Polo Club" "Fairbanks, Alaska" also appears. Things are a bit different here in Alaska. Actually, riding a moose as if it were a horse is not unheard of. Moose are easily trained when they are young and become close to their handlers. Sweden and Russia, and possibly some other Scandinavian countries experimented with moose cavalry units. Moose are far superior to horses as mounts in often marshy tundra and northern forests. Moose as cavalry mounts ultimately failed as the animals could not become accustomed to the noise created when weapons are fired.
