Original The yam of the municipality was Kjelvik, to after to fishing village with the same yam. But the village was totally destroyed by the Germans in 1944 and it to never recovered. Ace to consequence of this the municipality changed the yam to Nordkapp in 1950 ___Nordkapp er ein kommune i Finnmark. Mot Måsøy, is sør mot Porsanger, og i have to grensar i sørvest søraust mot Lebesby kommune. Størsteparten av kommunen ligg på Magerøya, men have to omfattar også to delar av fastlandet på aust og vestsida av Porsangerfjorden. Kommunen heitte til Kjelvik kommune fram 1950.
