About This Design

New Zealand Flag: Union Jack, Southern Cross Stars Poster

New Zealand Flag: Union Jack, Southern Cross Stars Poster

The flag of New Zealand, a symbol of national identity, is a testament to the country's history and geography. Its design features a blue field with the Union Jack in the canton (upper left corner) and four red stars representing the Southern Cross constellation. - The blue field signifies the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean that surrounds New Zealand, while the Union Jack reflects the country's historical ties to the United Kingdom. The Southern Cross, a prominent constellation in the Southern Hemisphere, represents New Zealand's location in the South Pacific. - The flag's history is intertwined with New Zealand's journey towards independence. It was officially adopted in 1902, marking a significant milestone in the country's development. While the flag has flown proudly over New Zealand for over a century, it has also been the subject of debate in recent years, with some advocating for a new flag that would better represent the country's unique identity and culture. - While the flag has not been directly linked to specific battles, it has served as a symbol of unity and national pride during times of conflict, such as the World Wars. It has flown alongside the flags of allied nations, representing New Zealand's commitment to global peace and security. - The flag of New Zealand continues to evolve, reflecting the changing aspirations of its people. It is a symbol of the past, present, and future, embodying the spirit of a nation that embraces its heritage while looking towards a new horizon. - This New Zealand work is in the public domain in New Zealand, because its copyright has expired or it is not subject to copyright. This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1928.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
