Nature Refreshes Card

A close up shot of a Magnolia flower that I clipped from the tree in our yard. The Magnolia is the state flower of Mississippi. Magnolia grandiflora, the Southern magnolia is an aristocrat of trees. It grows as a native throughout the South, is widely adaptable to a variety of soils, and has few pest problems. With glossy evergreen foliage and large white fragrant blossoms in spring, it truly is one of the most handsome and durable native trees for Southern landscapes. It is a medium to large tree 20-30 m tall with a striking appearance, both in leaf and in bloom.
