National Assembly Building, Dhaka, Bangladesh Tote Bag

The National Assembly Building, or National Parliament House (Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Bengali) was designed by architect Louis Kahn and is one of the largest legislative complexes in the world. Construction began in 1961 and was completed more than 20 years later in 1982. Louis Kahn, considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, sadly passed away before its completion in 1974. Though the building was officially closed to visitors on the day I was there, begging, pleading, and assuring the staff that I was not a tourist, but an architect on a pilgrimage, I was not only allowed inside but was given an incredible private tour! And plenty of free time afterwards to make this sketch (though it had to be done quickly, as it began to rain about halfway through!)
