N C Wyeth Western Painting “Last Stand” Postcard

NC Wyeth , was an American artist known for his realist paintings and illustrations of the old west. During his lifetime, Wyeth became one of America’s greatest illustrators and he created over 3,000 paintings and illustrations. His early trips to the old west inspired images of cowboys and Native Americans that dramatised the frontier. This painting is called “Last Stand” and depicts a cowboy standing atop a ridge with his rifle at the ready. He looks hunted and harassed and ready to make a last stand.
