Mursi People of Ethiopia Postcard

Mursi (or Mun) People of Ethiopia's Omo Valley in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region. Lip plates are a well known aspect of the Mursi women who wear large pottery or wooden discs, or ‘plates,’ in their lower lips. The Mursi also have a long history of body painting, decorative scarring and piercing. The men wear tusks to assert their strength and courage, while the women wear them to enhance their beauty.
