Moving New home Vintage children CC0084 Announcement Postcard

Vintage moving card inspired by a charming illustration from Christian Winter's book (Flugten til Amerika / The flight to America, 1830) by Danish artist Alfred Schmidt (1858-1938). The picture shows two children, hand in hand, seemingly a little bit lost, as in facing a new neighbourhood. If you read the book, you'll notice that this is not entirely accurate. The older boy has had a bad day, failing at school and discovering that the sweet Rikke no longer seems to care for him. As a result, he decides to travel overseas to America and persuades the younger child to accompany him. But they are actually standing outside their own house, and it is their mother who is looking out through the window.
