Mesilla is a historic village located just south of Las Cruces, famous for its central plaza and the Basilica of San Albino. It was once a major stop for the Butterfield Overland Stagecoach and has deep roots in the Gadsden Purchase history. The town is surrounded by pecan orchards and the Organ Mountains. Its horizon is low and intimate, chraacterised by thick-walled adobe shops and restaurants that have stood for over a century.
