MERRY MYTHMAS! HOLIDAY CARD

MERRY MYTHMAS! HOLIDAY CARD

Few people realise that December 25 is the important astronomical day when our sun ends winter and is "reborn". This is the ancient origin of Christmas and the "reason for the season". It all begins on on Dec. 23—the first day of the winter solstice. On the 3rd day, Dec. 25, the sun finally stops descending lower in the sky and finally begins it ascension. Now the days start getting longer and lighter. December 25 is the joyous day when the sun—not a son—brings everyone the promise of warmth, light and replenishment. This was a huge celebration in the ancient word. The sun was believed to be a god and was worshipped for being born on Dec. 25. The Romans named their sun god "Sol". The word "Sol+stice" means "Sol"+"stands still". In fact, our early ancestors believed the sun was dead during the 3 days of the solstice and that it rose on the 3rd day, Dec. 25. It amazes me that thousands of years later, we still celebrate the exact same event. But many, like me, understand its true, natural meaning: The rebirth of our natural sun; not the birth of a supernatural son who was only born from superstition. I hope you enjoy my other winter solstice designs—some are funny, some are informative and some are...I'll let you decide! Merry Solstice! The card itself brought a smile to the face of its recipient and has quickly become a favourite. It has pride of place on the mantle shelf above the fire. The quality of the card, the printing and the overall composition are all excellent.

My grandson liked the card. Your cards are always great quality. I enjoyed being able to use a photo of him in the card, as these cards are keepsakes. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t get a gamer themed card. He is a very passionate gamer.
